I must admit, if i hadn't grown to love my IT bridge pickup, then I'd be in the same boat as you Tom.
I never used to use the bridge on its own. For a couple of years in the 80s I had a SD hot-rails in there, which was OK, but bridge/middle wasn't quite how I liked, and eventually I got fed up with what it looked like. And I started leaving off some, or even quite a lot, of the dirt I used to use on the sound.
Since getting MQs (and also experimenting with guitar configs in Variax guitars a while back) I have wondered about a P90 in the bridge. If I ever did anything other than SSS to a strat, it would be PSS...
And that Feline example does actually look very tasteful. One of my things against HSS (apart from the fact I don't really feel the need for a humbucker tone coming out of a strat anymore!), is that it always seems to look so darned neanderthal to me, either covered or exposed bobbins... each to his own I guess... but that black covers with a P90 look seems to press the buttons ok for me...
I bet that thing was killer for standard tuning slide, Jonathan :D
What's the body wood on that one?
