Yacht in Iranian Waters
« on: December 01, 2009, 03:51:20 PM »
This has annoyed me this story.

I'll explain why in quotations:

"An Iranian official has said "serious" measures will be taken"
"if it is proved they had "evil intentions"."

RIGHT LADS! THEY'RE MAKIN' WEAPONS IN THERE, WE KNOW IT!

WE'LL INVADE-

IN YACHTS.

CHARGE!!!
"Would you like some lemon oil?"
"Oh, no thanks, I don't eat fruit."

Das boot!
Rise above the crowds
Wade through toxic clouds
Breach the outer sphere
The edge of all our fears

... far be it form me to sympathise with Iran in any way, shape or form...

... but as far as I can see the yacht DID stray into their territory.  I would imagine that an Iranian boat straying into UK waters would be treated pretty harshly...

I'm not so sure, I would like to think it would. I don't think the PM has actually even spoken to Mr Russia about the 'Bear' planes that keep coming closer and closer

Agreed.   And the papers would be having a field day about how the evil bar-stewards must be up to no good.

I feel for the families involved. I hope that the Iranian Government sees this as an opportunity to win goodwill and treat them well and let them go home soon. If it was a yacht with an Iranian crew straying into in British waters then I'd like to think we wouldn't all get silly about it being a security threat. Offer to help with repairs and send them on their way.

It's a yacht though, not a torpedo armed yacht. Or a battleship. Or a stealth battleship or anything.

Still.. They better wise up.
