Welcome to Liverpool
« on: December 01, 2009, 09:03:39 PM »

Was working in Liverpool today so I decided to have a look for Rose Lane Music to try out some MI Audio effects.  Took a few wrong turns but then found where it was meant to be and parked up on a side road.  No shop was there so I went back to my car.  Then I notice a car go past me very slowly and out of the corner of my eye it looked like they were looking at me,  I thought they were waiting for a space so just ignored them while I made a few calls and did some emails on my phone.  Then when they left my sixth sense said best move on incase they were nutters of some description.

As I went I saw 2 guys in a car on a side road turn round and come behind me.  They were not close or agressive so didn't think too much about it (I was back to thinking about OD pedals again by then).

Then as I got on the main road and the traffic stopped a car screeched to a halt on my RHS and the passenger window wound down.  2 scallies were in the car, the driver shouting me so I pressed my window down.  This was the conversation:-

other driver:- Why the f**Kare you following me?
me:- ...what...I...wasn't...what...do you mean?
other driver:- your a liar, a f%&%$g liar.  Why were you parked there if you werenet following me...you were on the phone
me:- I don't know what you're on about, I was looking for a music shop
other driver:-  YOU'RE A F$£%&*G LIAR
me:- I wasn't following you
Other driver:-  YOU WERE, FOLLOW ME AND I'll BURN YOU F&%$%&G CAR, I'LL F%$&$*G BURN YA!!!!!!!!!!

He was almost out his seat and throthing at the mouth.  The car then sped off, I thought I'd have to pull along side them at the lights but they went right through the red light and dissapeared.

When he'd gone I couldn't help thinking I'd play it safe and just get the OCD froum Sounds Great after all...

weird... But this shocked me:
Then I notice a car go past me very slowly and out of the corner of my eye it looked like they were looking at me,  I thought they were waiting for a space so just ignored them while I made a few calls and did some emails on my phone.  Then when they left my sixth sense said best move on incase they were nutters of some description.

Man, not sure if I'm used to a more agressive environment, but hell, anybody walking behind me, close to me or any other weird behavior lights a very bright RED LIGHT on me...

That sounds awful. These people are a mystery to me and the way that they go about their lives and what possible benefit/enjoyment they get from these antics.

sounds about right.

But then I've been driving through parts of manchester, actually, stockport once, I was in the passenger seat in my mates car, and this guy walked out right in front of the car while we were moving, and we beeped the horn at him and drove round him, and he chased us on foot, running up the middle of the road.

Im hoping to pop into sounds great in the next few weeks. wonder if they have anything good in stock

i wondered about their stock.

i noticed they had listed some krank amps, (a head and a combo) on ebay as 'new old stock' or something.

just had a look and found it
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Krank-Revolution-Series-One-Combo-Ltd-Ed-in-Blue-New-UK_W0QQitemZ200407108056QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_MusicalInstr_Amplifiers_RL?hash=item2ea931c9d8#ht_5512wt_1165

i thought it was odd to use the phrase 'new old stock'. maybe im wrong.

Yeah, stockport has many nutters, I can vouch for that!  I think this kind of folk are everywhere.  I think the difference is when you are closer to home you know where not to go but go to a different city and you end up parking in the wrong place and not knowing.

Sounds great has loads of good stock, mainly higher end stuff nowadays but a great selection of pedals and guitars.

"eh, eh - calm down lad..."

I think that there are nutters wherever you go - I was a student in Liverpool for 3 years and never once had any hassle -

It's worth noting that drug use can lead to paranoia. It's my experience that nutters throwing abuse at total strangers are often out-of-their-heads.

Yeah, that's definitely true in bigger cities - dodgy areas can be just a couple of streets away from the nicer ones, and you really need to get a "feel" for the place.

South London definitely has more than its fair share of nutters.  Apparently (may not be true but I read it somewhere) there were a lot of mental hospitals in the area and then they brought in...... Care in the Community.   :|

The house next door to me seems to be some kind of halfway house for crazies.  The old boy who owned it moved a couple of years ago, somebody spent 6 months and a lot of money totally gutting and refurbishing the place... and now it's full of total $%&#ing loonies.  Theres no way they're the owners.   :(

The worst I've had so far is after I accidentally parked in front of some dudes driveway. Out comes this little man screaming 'is that your $%&#ing car? It's in my $%&#ing drive!'. I promptly dropped my 'talking in England' voice and told him to be more polite. It's amazing the transformation when people realise I'm 6'4 and can have a gruff Scottish accent when needed. He shat a brick.
