could the fact that they're married and i'm not have anything to do with it?  or is it just guitar that keeps us all young?

I sometimes think that.  I haven't had any of the stresses and strains that relationships, marriages and kids bring (on the other hand I haven't had the benefits either).

On the guitar thing, or for that matter having any hobby and sticking at it for many years, I've often thought there's a "clinging to your youth" element - and maybe it's literally true.   Is it a good or a bad thing?  I feel like I haven't really "grown up"  compared with many people I know - they're no longer the person they used to be in any way, physically or mentally, whereas I don't think I've changed much at all (but maybe they think the same?  :? ).

Then again, vast numbers of "mature" men behave like children over football matches every week.  And even if they no longer try to play guitar or collect CDs, they find something else to waste money on.   At least I've never developed "grown up" habits like alcoholism and smoking....

Or it could just be genetics.  My dad's 75, looks much younger and has a full head of hair, most of it still brown.  He's 2 stone lighter than me as well.  Old git.

I happened upon a phot this week of myself and Mrs L taken about 17 years ago - the kids were wondering if we were the same people...

No grey hair...
More hair....
At least I can get into the same size clothes as back then. (I am 48 now...)

On the topic - when is 'too old' to be in a rock band? I mean Jagger does it at 60-odd.....

Hopefully I have a good few years left in me yet

I joined my first proper band, YC/DC?, at 31.  My band mates are all 40+, so jump in Mike - the water's lovely!

I credit my youthfullness to having no kids.  Myself and Mrs Twinfan live for ourselves, and that keeps you young!

I think it's right about the music thing. Me and the other guitarist in my old band were the youngest at around 18, whilst the other guys are all 40+. They still have a laugh with immature jokes and that sort of thing, always fun when I get to play with them again (but wouldn't want to do it every week!) :D

If you're doing it for fun, you're never too old.

If you're labouring under the illusion that you're some kind of 23-year-old sex god, it's time to knock it on the head.

And Bon Jovi? The new video reminds me of Coldplay or the band that sang about 'greatest days of our lives'

Well at my veritable age I am gigging as much as I ever did and still loving it and still learning new things. I expect I'll get one of those electric scooters in the years to come and turn up to gigs in that-only mine won't be red, it'll be black and silver with chrome eagles over it and cow horn handlebars..and no cr@p grey tyres- they'll be black and slicker than a thing that is very slick.....hey I am warming to this old age thing which is probably just as well really.

Well most of my hair is grey and some receding but it's hair, so I'm thankful. I could do without it growing in my ears though.
I'm carrying more weight than I used to, but not as much as the beginning of the year. I've still got 20/20 vision and the hearing isn't too bad considering all the gigs I've been to. I've got better gear than I had when I was in my 20's and I can play a lot better than them days.
I'm getting my nuts in more than ever. I have a car that always starts and I'm never skint (when I'm working) so I'm loving it all really!  :D

Cop this then, A. I'm probably the oldest person on this forum (56), B. Whilst I still have some hair on top I've got a forehead the size of Devon and the bald patch round the back is like a helicopter landing pad, C. I'm about two stone overweight, D. I have a considerable drink and drugs history and broke my back in 79  am disabled and have broken fourteen other bones on other wild nights. E. I'm bipolar (which sort of explains D). On the plus side my earlobes are beautiful.

I think part of looking old is dressing old, lifeless baggy clothes, especially beige, never looked good on anyone

Quite a few guitar colours are beige(ish) - Desert Sand, Mary Kaye White, Blonde, Vintage White...

And Shoreline Gold is basically that dreary greyish old-man's-shoes colour, but with a few sparkly bits.

I'm 21, and have been completely bald since i've been 18, i'm afraid it just happens to some people, at varying ages! So i look quite a lot older than most of my peers!
Driving in my car, smoking my cigar, the only time i'm happys when i'm playing my guitar!
