Yeah it's UPS. I'm going to be at work over the next 3 days so I'm hoping some one like my Mum or Brother will be in to pay it for me. My little sister wouldn't know what the hell to do, she hasn't got a good grasp of common sense just yet

I get mine delivered to work - it's always the same UPS bloke and he says he plays guitar himself but he can't afford to buy much gear because he's got a family.

It's getting to the point where I feel quite embarrassed every time a neck or body turns up, I even justify myself by saying "well they had this 20% off sale".  Self-consciousness is a ridiculous thing!

Turned out it wasn't in the country at that point

But it is now and it's out for delievery. It's coming from the Luton UPS branch, which is about a 40 minute drive when the roads are clear, god knows how long he'll take in the snow.

I didn't go into work today, no way am I driving considering how slippery it is (had enough trouble last night getting stuck on a slight hill). So I'm glad I'll be here when it arrives.

Yes mate, my uncles girlfriend lives in Luton and I've heard it's pretty bad compared to Hatfield.

Got my Tru-Oil through but just waiting for my steel wool. Can't find any where near by that sells the grade I need.

So my neck finally came today. Looks great and feels great.

Now the problem, it doesn't fit in the neck pocket.

The neck pocket is slightly bigger than the neck, so there's a gap, not even a millimetre big but the neck is moving around far too much.

Now I could just give it to a pro to get it sorted for me, but is there anything I could do myself?

Well, the neck is on. I've oiled it up and it feels pretty good. The oil has brought out the slight flame to the neck too.

Got some tuners on, new strings and gave it a good set up as best I can. Plays really well now. The most comfortable Strat I've played (Eric Johnson sig is an exception). I'm quite proud of what I've done.

Bought a new Strat today too. A mexican Standard, the quality on these things have improved 10 fold. So I'll post pictures up soon.

on a side note... does anyone know what warmoth back contour would come close to what fender considers a 'modern C shape' neck??
I want a neck similar to my american deluxe tele for my mex strat, the two necks just dont compare and i reconthe guitar is in need of a complete rework.

I've got the Standard thin contour on my Warmoth neck. But compared to my Mexi strat, it's a little slimmer.

So If you want something similar in feel to the mexi tele, then the Boat contour is close.

Gotta disagree, I think the Warmoth Standard Thin is the nearest to the Fender Modern C.

All the other Warmoth shapes are quite different - the Boat, Fatback and '59 are bigger than the Modern C, the Clapton and SRV are similar to their Fender equivalents, the Wizard is like an Ibanez and the Wolfgang is, I suppose, similar to a Peavey Wolfgang (or Music Man EVH/Axis).

If you think the Standard Thin might be a bit too skinny, I'd suggest the '59 Roundback.  It's chunky around the 12th fret but not too deep at the nut.
