Jazzsquire with Blackguard Flat 50 pickup -now with added Funky Mama

I've recorded a very rough and ready video on my tiny Canon Ixus point-and-shoot of my Telemaster/Jazzsquire project now it's all assembled apart from the pickguard (which I'm still sanding :) ).  I know a few people have been asking how "rock" a Blackguard Flat 50 is, hence the video.  The playing's sloppy and the camera's audio is tinny but I hope you get an idea of what a versatile pickup the Flat 50 is.  The recording is all guitar straight into the amps until the end where I turn on the Deja-vibe for no good reason at all.  Hope it helps anyone who's toying with getting a "Flat 50" but is concerned about its rock credentials.

Dunno, welcome aboard anyway, it's fun for all the family!  I'll take some better photos when I've finished sanding the bloody pickguard which is taking a lot longer than I'd thought.  Turns out Bakelite is made out of sterner stuff than regular plastic.

I love both of them dearly.  This new guitar is the first that sounds equally good through both.  My Apache loaded Strat definitely sounds better through the Romany to me and my Charvel sounds, unsurprisingly, better through the Plexi 7.  The Black Guard Flat 50 sounds fab to my ears through both.  Might be time to get an A/B/Y pedal. ;)

I recorded a rough version of the main melody from "Funky Mama" using the Jazzsquire today.  As the neighbours were in I had to make do with the Pod XT rather than the Romany :(.  I was trying for a half Danny Gatton, half Albert Collins type tone to see how much "ice-pick" I could get for the lead tone and what other tones I could get for the rhythm parts.  There's a twangy-ish one for the bouncy bass line and and a smoother, jazzier tone to do the fill parts after each phrase of the melody.

I've put the tune onto a YouTube video showing the stages of the guitar's construction in case anyone else fancies a go.
