 I wondered whether that was the case...
But in months to come, this thread'll be useful on its own.
I'm almost in the same boat as you - BG 50s in a Baja tele, Yardbirds in the Japanese 62 custom.
Many times I prefer the sound of the Baja and it's BGs, but then the 62 custom is generally more versatile.
I've just been AB-ing the guitars through the same set-up. It's a vox AC4TV with a Danelectro Cool Cat Transparent Overdrive in front of it. The amp/pedal are actually set up for a Brian May Red Special guitar at the moment - but that's ok because those settings work really well for a tele as well.
The Baja is slightly hotter and fuller sounding, but it is really close, and I suspect much of it is down to the nature of the guitars themselves. With a bit of vol/tone fiddling on the guitars, they do each other's jobs, and my missus can't tell which one I'm playing...
I reckon that if I could really crank it here (and therefore lose the pedal - I gave it a bit of a go just now ), I would be extremely happy to play either tele for several hours, on the same types of music...
My conclusion - I'll be leaving the soldering iron on the shelf for the moment! :D
