+1 on Cinderella, just rediscovered them recently. You shouldn't look at them too intensely, but listening is great!

+3 the man speaks the truth. Forget the 1st Album Night Songs. Long Cold Winter and Heartbreak Station are superb.

Noooo!!!  All the best stuff is on Night Songs

On the next two albums Tom Kiefer decided he was a "bluesman", took himself too seriously and disappeared up his own arse ("Bad Seamstress Blues/Fallin' Apart at the Seams" is brilliant, though).

We'll agree to disagree it's safer that way :D

I found Night Songs to be an attempt for DC clones to cash in on hair metal, it really did nowt for me. He did go up his own arse but I found the music and playing so much better with the blues influences brought to the fore on the other albums.

While we're on 80's Rock(ish) The original poster could a do a lot worse than pick up 'Let It Rock' Best of ,by the Georgia Satellites or In the Land of Salvation and Sin.

Rocking Albums with some great playing by Rick Richards

For me I love Nightsongs with a passion (if anyone is into ACDC/Airbourne - you should love it)
But I also loved the transition they made - Long Cold Winter was great as a slide into blues territory
Heartbreak Station continued that blues slide but added country influences

Still climbing I just havent listened to as much but has some great tunes on it

Tom Keifer looked to what his heroes (esp Led Zepp) were influenced by and got into it - old blues players and that new influence showed up in his writing
But I always come back to Night Songs as it just has that energy from end to end - not unlike the first Skid Row album

Agreed!  :D

Thanks for mentioning the Georgia Satellites, I always liked what I heard of theirs (at least the early stuff) but never actually bought any of it.

That sums it up nicely and explains, in a nutshell, why I don't like the later albums.  I like blues but quickly get bored with it.  As for country, I don't dislike it in its own right (and I would love to be able to play some of those chicken-pickin' Tele licks)..... but I can't stand it when it crops up unexpectedly on a rock album!

I'm normally someone who listens to entire albums, not individual songs, but those Cinderella albums are rare cases where I always end up skipping tracks.

I love the actual track : Long Cold Winter but get frustrated that Planet Rock always just play FAlling apart at the seams

It's a great blues track in my opinion

I still adore Night Songs without exception..

Long Cold Winter = Excellent with 1or 2 skips... then it's all downhill.  :(

A victim of the Early 90's grunge but The Four Horsemen remain one of my fave no holds barred Loud amps, Big guitars and ROCK bands ever.

haven't read all, but guessing most of the known ones have been said, so here's my two cents worth of more unknown (but no less awesome) bands:

- War Babies
- D.A.D.
- Badlands
Crawlers, Riff Raffs

sorry to swing this back to Cinderella

i love the Night Songs album, one of my all time favourite records, but i like very little on Long Cold Winter. maybe i'll have to give it another listen.  i think Heartbreak Station is a great album though, real earthy.  Still Climbing is more rocking, and i love it too.  kind of an older, wiser Night Songs.

did anyone mention Roxx Gang?  ignore the mostly daft lyrics and their first album, Things You've Never Done Before, is excellent.  Red Rose is brilliant!
cry HAVOC!! and let slip the pigs of war!!!

No need to apologise.

Oh come on, Gypsy Road is worth the entry fee alone (though I always skip Don't Know What You Got even if it was Fluff's favourite)

They were awesome live as well.  Saw them at the Marquee in about '91  :D

it's a great track - that and the title track (which always seems like a reworking of Led Zep's Since I've been Loving You) are the standouts for me on that album
The other tracks are good but not really tracks that make you WANT to put the album on for
