I need some 80's rock recommendations

Was watching TV last night and they had a Whitesnake vs Def Lepard hour on, I had forgotton how much I like Whitesnake.
I need some recommendations for some 80's style up tempo rock and metal.

One band I always meant to check out were Tesla, any good, if so, which album should I start with ?

Twisted Sister were awesome, Stay Hungry is an essential 80s metal album that must not be forgotted - (oh wait, I hate metal, so don't listen to me)  8)

There is the anthemic stuff that was popular with MTV videos and there is some great heartfelt stuff too (The Price)
Dee Snider is a great songwriter and has a great voice .
Stay Hungry is a great album but I would seriously suggest looking out for "Love is for Suckers" which was supposed to be a Dee Snider solo album but got labelled as twisted Sister.

Also check out WASP's Crimson Idol album - great Blackie Lawless solo album that got labelled as WASP
Lots of WHO influence showing and good songwriting

+1 on Cinderella, just rediscovered them recently. You shouldn't look at them too intensely, but listening is great!

Just going back to Tesla, since you mentioned them specifically, they were great back in the late '80s and are still going pretty strong today.  I saw them at the Marquee in '87 and it was one of the best gigs I've ever been to.  They got chucked in with the hair metal bands just because of the time they appeared, but they were much more '70s-influenced IMO.

Jon has already mentioned their best albums, second album The Great Radio Controversy is an absolute classic and the first, Mechanical Resonance, runs it pretty close.

I think their debut was released in 1990, but they still have lots of the 80s hard rock/"metal" sound to me and of course I'm talking about Gorky Park (don't forget about the Russians).

They are playing the Academy 3 in Manchester. It's a tiny venue
