best place to find band members?
« on: January 25, 2010, 06:01:41 PM »
Hi guys,
It's more than half a year now since I've had a gig/band and although I've been looking for new people to play with etc. it's just hard to find people who are into the same stuff etc and not already in a band!
Does anyone know any good websites or ideas on finding people?
cheers

There's also www.joinmyband.co.uk I met my new guitarist through that, so far a great and productive site!  :D

Aye, there are some one-finger wonders on there too, but sometimes you can find great people to work with.  :)
I joined a few of those sites when I was after band members, I think I was on musofinder for a while too, not a bad site at all.

Oh, what about Gumtree? (www.gumtree.com) It's more a general advertising site but might be worth just chucking something up on there just in case.

gumtree can be ok sometimes, more often than not it's a load of wasters who never get back to you

local jam nights are melting pots of talent (and non-talent), can be a good way to get yourself seen and heard by other musicians - I've found that a lot of musos who are looking for a band or thinking about leaving a band start drifting into jam nights to meet people
