MartinW - Martamp - Thanks, you're great!
« on: January 26, 2010, 12:50:02 PM »

Martin has done me a huge favour, he forwarded a Marshall amp for me that wasn't shipped outside UK by the seller.

Might sound like a small favour, but amps are heavy and big and I think we must have exchanged like 700 emails while he is a very busy man, so I know this wasn't little to ask.

I just wanted to state in public what a great and upright guy he is, and I can only imagine what kind of exceptional service you get when you buy one of his amps.

In my short dealings with martin by email he is indeed a sound, helpfull and decent chap!

Good post, btw. We often see people slagging people off for incompetence or idiocy (gibson for example, and any number of screwed up sales, bad work on guitars, that sort of thing) but comparatively rarely for doing right by people, being helpfull and doing a good job. Praise where its due, I say.

I've heard that he needs a fire extinguisher ready at all times in case he spontaneously combusts during gigs....

Thanks!  :)  :blushing a bit:

It was no trouble to send the amp on, and a pleasure to help.

I like the amp a lot. Stays tight and sounds surprisingly good at lower gain. I don't care for the beast thing, but like it with gain on 6, mids up, treble down and a few pedals to push it.

All thanks to Martin!  :D

I'll post a vid later ...

Why send a coffin for repair to an amp builder?

I'll date you to stand in front of it when pushing a 4 x 12" and not have your nads flap.

Returning to the OP though. I'm more than happy with Martin's work in getting my baby back up and working. I'd happily recommend him to anyone looking for a custom build or looking to put life back in an old amp.

Are you going to take him anywhere nice?

I have experienced it with a 2x12.
It's not what you would call a practical amp.
Unless you're trying to cause physical damage.
Note to Shobet - please don't bring that thing tomorrow. I have a mere 18w
