Relic Guitar Studio

Has anyone bought any stuff from this company? http://relicguitarstudio.com/

The prices they have seem very reasonable to me.

I'm relicing my guitars the old fashioned way: time and usage.

Only problem is that when it's done, it's probably out of style.

Very nice. I like the bound tele custom. The relicing looks very good indeed!

Am I missing something or do those 'extremely rare' no-line Kluson tuners look just like a regular set of Gotohs?

noticed that they only seem to offer 7.25" fingerboard radius and 21 frets, that's probably a bit too vintage for most people

Especially when you consider that a few early Fenders actually had a 9.5" radius, and any guitar which has been used enough to be worn that much has probably been refretted a few times, wouldn't that flatten it out a bit?

Just had another look at the site - do they actually build those bodies and necks or do they just buy Allparts and relic them?

I believe they're bought in as on their About Us page is states 'our bodies and necks all come from "licensed by Fender" sources'.

Nothing wrong with that, I believe that a couple of the more regarded people making relics do the same. I think Nash (http://www.nashguitars.com/) guitars may be another parts assembler. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong about Nash.

I am seriously tempted by one of these, I better hide the credit cards.

As someone who builds illegal guitars, I know where these guys get their parts: Monsterrelic. I am not sure that Monsterrelic parts are licensed, however, but I recognize the manufacture.

The parts themselves are not bad, but I really wish they'd nail down some of the accuracy issues. Like 12th fret marker spacing on their 1966 neck should be narrow, and everyone knows that after 1955 or so, all blonde Fender bodies were ash and all ash bodies were blonde.

Anyway, if you want to order from these guys, do it soon, as I suspect Fender will be on them like a bulldog on a steak.

Besides the issue of where they get their parts from: for one thing, they use the "Strat" and "Tele" names without attibution. For another, they use the Strat headstock as their logo, both of which will assuredly draw the wrath of the Big F.

I noticed the 7.25 radius theme as well. I'm a convert to 9.5 and really woudn't want to go back to 7.25.

I'm in two minds about this now - I really wanted to get that tele body but have a 9.5 radius. I also wanted to buy some woodworking tools and won't be able to afford those and the tele.

A tough one as I do really want to give building a guitar (or a body at least) a go but also like the idea of having a relatively hassle free approach to putting a guitar together i.e. these guys or warmoth.
