Advice on BKP for PRS Singlecut trem
« on: January 27, 2010, 04:05:38 AM »
Been hearing a lot of good things about BKP trying to decide which set would best fit my needs. We play mainly covers, 80 Rock to some newer stuff, G&R, Bon Jovi, Poison, Metallica, Buckcherry, Theory of a Deadman Etc. I use a Diezel Einstein amp/Diezel 412 so I am looking for an mean, aggressive  sound would appreciate some input.

Yep, I'd go Cold Sweats.  There was a guy here on the forum who had a set in the same guitar and played in a Queen tribute band(!) - they sounded superb!

The Nailbomb represents the 80s metal scene though jazz players have be known to use them as well.

They are a powerful, organic sounding pickup with plenty of mids. They're also rich in tone and very versatile making them a great choice if you need an all round rock/ hardrock pickup.

Sounds good, what are the main differences between the Nailbomb and Coldsweats? Those were actually the main two I am looking at.

they are somewhat similar
cold sweat is brighter, crunchier, more 80's sounding
nailbomb is thicker, has a bit less upper mids and a more modern tone
the holy diver or rebel yell might work too

I love this holy diver clip through a VH4

Cold Sweat is the kinda replacement for the HFS/VB set. Very versatile set, actually, although ceramic bridge whereas the NB is A5. Lots of definition, and they work well with a guitar that has a lot of body to it.
A-Pig 7s, Miracle Man & Mule, Cold Sweats... Expensive kit and no talent posse.
