I think 90% of the stuff you get in the UK is not worth the price.
I regularly import wine from a local vineyard in southern Germany where I used to live. The 7€ bottles would retail for about 15£ easily in the UK. The people are family friends... they usually "forget" the postage :-)
I currently have only some quite expensive bottles at home which has lead to the strange thing that I am not drinking anything - they are too valuable for casual drinking. :(

There's just something in the taste of American whiskey I love... can't put my finger around it really. They taste differently - they way I want whiskey to taste. I tried a couple of Scottish whiskeys (my friend has a huge collection), but I keep coming back to JD for some reason (which is totally overpriced in the UK - I got this bottle abroad as well).
