Rattling saddles in my Gotoh TOM bridge
« on: February 07, 2010, 04:15:33 PM »
Hi Y'All

I recently swapped the stock bridge on my SG for a Gotoh and after a few months it's developed a weird buzz when I play.  I've since removed the bridge & discovered all the saddles are loose.  When removed you can shake the bridge and they rattle like crazy!  Any ideas on a fix for this other than returning it for a refund?
I've put the old Gibson bridge back in.  The saddles are solid & the buzzing has disappeared.

Cheers!

ABR-1 or Nashville TOM?

The ABR-1's tend to rattle.

It's a Nashville.  I guess the "chemical thread locking compound" (as stated in the Gotoh blurb) has worn away.  Perhaps the compound is something similar to clear nail varnish...?

I've contacted the company I bought it off & they're willing to send out a replacement anyway which is great.

Yep, nail varnish.

In some cases, wax.
