Those still look very 'plastic', if you understand where I'm coming from.
It's probably because I owned a Vintage some time back and it wasn't really all that great (cheap materials, poor finish, etc.).
I would probably do well to check them out again sometime when I need a cheap copy guitar but until then I'm going to remain cautious.
As previously mentioned, I heartily agree with your statements - and it spoils what otherwise can be a sweet sounding guitar.
I wanted to re-iterate; as you encapsulated what disappointed me - and it's good to compare notes. Mine has turned out
great with T.L.C and coaxing - but now I know what is also out there at this price point- I won't be looking at a second Vintage for my cash.
However, in fairness, would other 'Budget' / novice players be looking for the same stuff as we would ?
This thread does however, show a ( characteristic ) diplomacy and even handedness, from a man who's main guitar is crafted from the very wood that is said to have been used to transport the Holy Grail - and afterwards constituted the 'better parts' of the Sistine Chapel.
