Installed my very first set yesterday
« on: February 23, 2010, 04:44:10 PM »
I finally put a pair of VHII's in my 59 Les Paul reissue and all I can say is wow.  Easily the best pickup I've ever heard and I've tried many other brands. The Sinner/ Trilogy set is going into my Strat next.

Thanks to all for the excellent feedback and advice. I appreciate it.  :D

Nice one mate,  :)

It's always nice to know that someone has hit the right pickups for them at the first shot. As for the attributes and quality, it's also gratifying that the 'magic ' of B.K.P has been discovered  and enjoyed - despite a relatively small footprint on the world market.  I can also confirm that even years after you buy the pickups, the helpfulness and customer service for things like magnet / pickup cover / wiring swaps - is kept first class. As a pleasant sideline, the forum remains the friendliest and varied that I've seen on the net.  :)

Nicely done...  I just received 2 sets and they're getting installed by Friday.

I've gone with RR's in a Hamer Archtop Studio, 4 con so that I can go with a coil-tap to move the guitar from double to single coil, this "project" guitar is being tailored to pair up with a "project amp" I'm working with.  A Peavey Classic 30W (Class A, go figure) that I re-tubed with some beautiful valves, and am installing a Celestion Gold driver for pure vintage tone.

The other set are the Painkillers, with the burnt chrome covers (had to, don't hate me) and this set is going into an ESP NT-II, coil tap as well.  Very excited as I've heard SO many soundclips, and so forth - never really able to feel my pants flap in front of a potent 4x12, so it'll be a surprise and I'm sure a pleasant experience.  If not sonically deafening.  This guitar is typically in Drop C tuning and runs through an Uberschall TJ or Diezel VH4S.

Best,
V.

I'm considering Riff Raffs for an SG myself.  I'd also like to eventually install some Rebel Yells into one of my guitas as well.  I've been reading a lot of really good stuff about those pups here in the forums.

Too many good ones to choose from!

For everything but my shred hi-gain side of musical musings, the Riff Raffs are flat out bloody amazing.

I'm in awe.

And funnily enough, so is my tech - who happens to work on a plethora of pro's gear...  He was hammering away on the newly installed RR's this morning at this shop and said he'd never heard anything so addictive.

I've had 1 hour with them tonight, and they're just remarkable.

Sounds like a heck of a pup.  What really blows me away is how good the VHII sounds in the neck position. So sweet. I love this pup.
