Most uncharacteristically for me, it's a superstrat (well it was over 20 years ago).  Looks pretty good, sounds like shite.

(Sorry for the thread hijack, by the way.  :oops:  I know nothing about cars, can't even drive.)

Did not know about this Triumph cars... The motorbikes are like not very common here in Brazil, kinda expensive... Is it the same manufacturer???

Yeah, they're kind of the same manufacturer.  The old Triumph died a long time ago but a bloke called John Bloor resurected the name and carried on the motorbike side of things.

The factory is about 10 minutes from my house, I had an interview there once........ and my mates folks live in John Bloors old house (they're rich - it's massive).

You can get seat extenders for the front seats so even the lankiest can fit in  :D

I have a classic Mini in Pageant Blue (a 70's colour), 1275 engine with a ported and gas-flowed head, Maniflow exhaust and original Minilites if any of that means anything to anyone! It's awesome though; loves roundabouts!

Back on topic - I really want an old mini but think I would look silly in one as I'm quite tall.

I'm 6'0 and it's absolutely fine. Gets a bit uncomfortable on long journeys but you just have to stop and stretch your legs every so often.

For anyone that's thinkig about it, I would add that Mini's are a great project. The engine is really basic and very tuneable if that's your thing. Insurance is cheap, parts are dirt cheap (in England anyway) and if you get yourself in an owners' club you'll find there are loads of people that are willing to help you with any restoration, cheap second hand parts and expert knowledge. I've now met 3 people that used to work at John Cooper's tuning works, and am lucky enough to have one of them breath on my engine  :D

Are they good cars?

Fantastic cars. Have you ever seen any MG cars? The smaller Triumphs like the Spitfire, GT6 etc are a bit like the MGB, slightly less robust but edgier and (imo) a lot more fun. The TR series (like the TR6) were in a league of their own really, and there's nothing similar by other manufacturers until you start talking Austin Healey prices. For £7000-15,000 you can get a TR6 that is incredible fun to drive.

That TR6 I drove recently, probably the most awesome car I've ever been in to be honest (driving or as a passenger).

Got to agree there, but I still love Spitfires.  Wifey is 30 soon and I was looking at another classic for her birthday.  I'd like an Austin Healey 3000 but there's not a chance of that.  (I was lucky enough to go in a Sebring version which had a stage 3 V8 and about 550bhp.  It was the most awesome car I've ever been in.)

She wants a frog eye though and I suppose that it is supposed to be for her and not me.
