Misfortune
© 2009

I had a silver in my pocket, but the hangman he was taking gold
I needed one more hour, but the bells had all begun to toll
I booked passage on a galley, but she went down in a raging sea
I washed up on an iron shore a thousand leagues from where I meant to be

Out of the heat and
Into the fire
Under the blade
Hard times, bad signs, and unfulfilled desires
Misfortune

I was swept up by a river overflowing with the autumn rains
I was wrongly charged, but the high lord cast me down in chains
I had a shot at vengeance, but my arrow it went astray
I had a chance at bliss, but my true love turned away

Out of the heat and
Into the fire
Under the blade
Hard times, bad signs, and unfulfilled desires
Misfortune

No steed to bear me home
No love to call my own
Misfortune
No wine to cure my thirst
No balm to soothe my hurts
Misfortune
No roof to shelter me
No charm to set me free
O, Misfortune

Blinding track DnL, bloody loved it. Worth getting pro-mastering on that one.

Thanks very much!

This is just the demo track. The finished product will be quite a step beyond this.

Nice one :D

Loved the sudden blast of "brian-may/jethro-tull" harmonies (about 2 mins, was it?).

Is that a hint of "The finished product will be quite a step beyond this"?

Well, this stuff was all recorded under less-than-ideal circumstances just to get the songwriting demos completed: The drums are the house kit at our rehearsal space, which is itself a less-than-ideal room. For most of the songs we only have 2 mics on the drums. I was still finding my tone so it changes radically from song to song, acoustic guitars are DI, etc etc.

Well if it was a run through it was very impressive. The final result should be pretty damn good.

I'm liking this a lot, especially PJ's Joplinesque wails.
I see a rainbow rising
Look there on the horizon
And I'm coming home
