Got GAS? Depressing Near-Impossible?

Obviously with the shitety as economy these days its making prices rise up, and guitars go up to price, etc.

Happy times for some, mostly shite for most.

Which is why I just made this post. Before I'd be buying guitar stuff and what not- heck I'd be buying anything off the block.

But now.. I'm just sad every guitar I look at I can't even buy, not even secondhand cause the secondhand prices were the prices before the price rises (practically)

I guess I'm not wanting low range stuff and it can't be helped. Just want to post something, lol..

Sad times, sad times. Off to bed.. :(

I think I've cured myself of GAS by overdosing on strats. Maybe room for another tele though.

These days I'm spending more on recording gear than guitars and that's a very dangerous addiction. There's always another gizmo, another box of tricks, another 19 inch piece of rackmount digital magic to fluff the sound up that little bit more.

Be warned kids - gear is addictive, just say no.

I think based over the last 15 years guitars are really cheap, quality on the budget guitars is far higher than it was and the choice is great.

Everybody has different stages in their lives where they can buy more or less gear, unfortunately I'm at the latter at the moment like it sounds like you are. :?

It is frustrating but that's life, if you've got a guitar and amp that play okay you can at least concentrate on you playing.   But I know what you mean from the perspective that a new piece of gear can inspire you etc

Oh and....

Be warned kids - they stop you buying anything for 5 years - just say no (Until you are at least 30 if you can)

although just bought a guitar..was a good s/h one....have serious gas for a Feline lion or cub, a martamp m45 or 50 and don't even get me started on Duesenbergs. But all way too far out of reach for now

Personally (and I'm probably posting on the wrong forum for this...) I think that we spend waaay too much time focusing on new kit.

Amazing sounds can be produced using mediocre equipment, especially when you focus more on playing than acquisition...

And I agree with Tom in that the quality of gear you can buy these days is WAY higher than used to be possible for your dollar...

This is very true.

But as my number one hobby, a lot of what makes up that hobby is trying, buying and selling kit.  I'm not solely in it to make money from music, I want to have fun and enjoy myself  :)

No complaints on the guitars gwEm (although the Vigier is at home in Belfast..) but I really want them to sound good and not floppy out of my Toneport and I'd have to fork over a lot for a good amp and I play a lot of metal so it kind of cuts all the little Marshalls and whatnots out of there.

I had major GAS for an SG today (and the  supersonic 112 I played it through). I cured this by looking up reviews on the 112 (not very reliable by all accounts) and playing my strat and martamp for a longish time this evening.

I still want an SG but know that trying to get one at the moment would be stupidity as it would probably involve losing the strat. I went through the usual how much can I get/what can I buy calculation in my head a few times before I realised I was being a total c-ck.

GAS over.
