BKP's for a mate!
« on: November 26, 2005, 01:57:49 PM »
So, I finally managed to persuade my mate to get some Bareknuckles! He plays an Epiphone G400 extreme, basically SG-shaped but extended with horn bits at the bottom, also has a floyd. He plays pretty much only metal/shred. I was thinkin either Warpigs or Miracle Man? The kinda music  he listens to: Slayer, Metallica, Pantera, BLS, Van Halen, Yngwie etc. Doesnt ever downtune because of the floyd, so take that into account! He doesnt have internet access so I had to do this for him

Cheers

The Warpig is great for Metallica rhythm chugging. But I would recommend the Miracle Man wich is good for all the other stuff and won't do a half bad Metallica either.

(Check the spacing, probably 52mm)

Does your mate want some special covers to go with the pickups?

yeah, i'd second the miracle man, with the ceramic magnet it'll be tight for stuff like pantera, while doing the other stuff very well too...

does he want to go with a calibrated set, or does he want a different neck pickup?

and is the MM neck pickup alnico V? (i think i heard that somewhere, but i'm not sure)

Cheers for the replies. Not sure about if he wants a set or not, I think he said it depends how much money he ends up getting for christmas or something  :D

yeah it is dave. BKP don't use ceramic mags for neck pickups and any other alnico would be too mellow
down from the glens came the marching men...

^makes sense, alnico is better for cleans etc., which the neck pickups tend to be used for...

Neck pups are used a lot by classic rock bands and such for soloing with sme overdrive on top too. I think the alnicos make stuff like that sound better too, but that's just my preference.

The BKpu's:
Warpigs, Nailbombs...

But the real problem may be that all these bands that he likes play in dropped tunings...

Q: How/Why does he play metal without tuning down?!-

DO IT ! ! !

Haha I dunno he is mostly a bedroom guitarist, playing to total guitar backing tracks, which are mostly all in standard. He doesnt like tuning with his floyd either..
