Anyone from Hertfordshire ?

Have been offered a job in Stevenage so am considering relocating.

Hitchen is nice (+ good guitar shop) but seems a bit pricey, I have had a look around Royston / Buntingford which seem quite nice. Key thing for me is good schools for the kids and a nice place for them to grow up, where else I should consider ?

StevePage and Crazy Joe are both from that area I think. I'm on a weird border between herts beds and bucks. Its a pretty nice area where I am, if you avoid Luton atleast.

edit: I think Steve may actually be Hatfield way?

What about Letchworth?  Its like Hitchin but with even less character :}

My parents live in Hemel Hempstead (probably a bit of a stretch from Stevenage unless you like driving).

The town centre is completely soulless, but it's not a bad place to live.  Nice and quiet.

I think Hertford is a lovely place. You can get to Stevenage through the country lanes from there. Loads of pubs, canal boats and restaurants in Hertford. Mainline into London and good roads there too.

thanks for the info, I will look into Hertford, I had dismissed is as I was under the impression the house prices would be steep.
