P90 in a Tele
« on: March 09, 2010, 10:00:38 PM »
Ok, this is undoubtedly OLD news to most people, but I've just put a P90 in the neck position of my Tele and is flat out rawks.

The P90 is just one I had lying around from a MIJ Epi LP jr, but it sounds pretty decent all the same - now the question is what BKP P90 to get.

I think the regular BKP90 is the one to go for here, don't want much output in a neck pickup otherwise it'll get muddy.

This also has me thinking that a P90 in the bridge might be a good idea too - this is starting to get expensive already, ha ha.

I can't remember, is your Tele a Deluxe or Custom?  If it's the latter, how does the P-90 match up with the Tele bridge pickup?

Its a '72 Custom RI (rosewood board).  The P90 neck matches up very nicely with the Tele bridge p/up - can't say on the middle position yet as they're out of phase, doh! (its a 50/50 chance but it nearly always happens to me).

Yeah, anything "50/50" in guitar wiring always seems to turn out the wrong way!

Tried one with that set-up in World Guitars a while ago.
A good choice

and exactly why I don't waste my money on gambling or the lottery - I have zero luck when it comes to that stuff.
