Because I sent back the Alchemist and am most definitely keeping the V22 and had saved £350 I decided I'd get an AC4 head and a nice mic preamp. Check this bugger, it's a valve preamp, can be used as an overdrive pedal and the icing on the cake it's a recording valve head giving 2 watts into 16 ohms and I've got a 16 ohm 1x12 cab doing nothing. Can't f**king wait.

Great find !  :)

I love the way it looks the 'Retro' part as well as being built like a brick shed and doing the business. You can just Imagine that pre-amp being lifted from the Sun studios,  or in the control room at the BBC / RKO pictures - back in the day.   Beautiful.  :)    I have also just 'Googled' the ( outgoing ) Alchemist , and present / imminent V22 and AC4 - to better understand the aesthetic context ; all very nice .  :)

What speaker do you have in that 1 x 12 cab ?  Do tell all.  :)

The cab is only a humble Epiphone, but it has impressed me with it's honest neutral sound.

Interesting to hear, as I nearly went down the small solid state head - and 'donor' / budget 1 x 12 cab some time ago. The Epiphone cab also looking nicely retro.  An Eminence speaker too ! Nice  :)
