Pots and Caps

First off let me say I'm a huge BKP fan and now have them in all my guitars. I'm waiting for my Irish Tours to make it a complete set. I go on a Les Paul board and all these guys are buying these $100.00 to $125.00 wiring kits. 4 pots and the caps to go with the set. They say "this is the best upgrade I've ever done" is this the Emperor's newest clothes, or does changing pots and caps really make a big difference over stock Gibson parts?

I would certainly swap the awful tone caps that have been fitted on every gibson I have seen in recent years
An orange drop at the least - or a vitamin Q is my preference (and maybe rewire the controls to vintage spec

If the tone controls are 300k ones I would maybe change the pots on a Gibson

We now have in stock 550k ohm pots from CTS - which guarantee a minimum of 500k ohms even with the 10% tolerance allowed.
We have them in long and short shaft versions.

I have a 2000 Gary Moore and a 2009 57BB RI, so you think they both would benefit? The RI has the supposed Bumblebee caps. The Gary looks pretty cheesy inside.

Well, I got pots and caps from Tim for my GM. I must be honest, I was skeptical. What an amazing difference in the tone of the guitar. You've made a believer put of me.
