Worst amp I've owned

I keep banging on about how great my Cornford is around here so for a change he's the worst amp I've had....

In the mid 80's I brought an early small head Marshall JTM 45 plexey.  Got it for £175 including a early 70's Marshall 4 x 12.  The head in question is the one they've just reissued and the one everyone bangs on about as being the best Marshall every.

Problem was I got mine in the middle of the 80's crazy for hot roding old heads and the 45 had been converted to master volume.  When I gigged with the amp people would come up to me asking for a closer look as they'd never seen one in the flesh before.  But it sounded awful.  Recording it sounded so bad the engineer refused to record me until I plugged into the transistor Marshall that was lying around.

Don't know if the rewire had killed the sound or if it was a bad Marshall or if they just sound bad but this one was no good.

I finally sold it in my student days as I needed to buy some food.  I got £175 for the amp.  In an attempt to improve the sound I'd re-valved it with Mullards.  (This was around the time they stopped making them so they weren't too expensive.)  To add insult to injury I didn't bother taking them out again before I sold it.

Today I wish I'd kept it was it's worth a mint and the sound was most likely killed by the re-wire.  But at the time I was hungry.  :(
Mother's Milk.  Mullard.  Cornford.  Mmmmm....

I've owned several DSL's in the past. Awful amps IMHO, dry joint city and when compared to Marshall's of better pedigree, found lacking.

Having worked in the trade, Carlsbro's keep many an amp tech in business...

BV600H? Are we talking 600 watts of tube power?

It sure looks cool but I'll bet it's completely useless. (And a roadie's nightmare)

The dsls suck, as do the avt combo stuff I've tried, I've never played a marshall amp and liked what I've heard, some cleans were good, but the gain channels were shite.
