My #1 needs a new set of magnets

I can vouch for the c-Diver.  Mine started out as the alnico version in a maple strat, but I installed a ceramic magnet I had, because I found I was looking for a bit more attitude and muscle.  MMMMMMBOY did I get it!!!  Precision bass response, beautifully smooth mids, and highs that make you want to spend too much time noodling above the 12th fret!  I have mine wired for series/parallel for those rare occasions I'm in the mood for a bit less output.  Yes, it cleans up wonderfully.  And no it doesn't sound like a PK (that was one of my concerns).  To me it sounds like a more aggressive Diver using performance enhancing drugs.   :lol:

Cold Sweat is very bright. Very.
I would not recommend it unless this guitar is very dark.
I understand the short scale does not have as much snap as a Fender style guitar, but still, CS is very bright.
I had one in the neck position of a maple neck swamp ash 25.5 scale and it was nasty bright.
It found a home in the neck of a Wolfgang I have that is unusually dark and round as far as Wolfgangs go.
It's clear and articulate but does not have a lot of bass, just all upper mids and highs.
I'm not bad-mouthing the CS, just think that it best compliments a bassy, thick and dark sounding guitar, but can be a brutal ice-pick in the wrong application.

Sorry for the threadjack, but Nolly, how would you guess a ceramic holy diver would compare to a ceramic nailbomb?

The HD bridge is the only contemporary I havent tried, but I've heard nice clips (even though Im allergic to alnico bridges).

Sorry dude, I never saw this! I really wouldn't want to guess, it seems the magnet swaps can have drastically different effects depending on the construction of the pickup. I see you've had a first-hand response now anyway

How tight is the bass on holy diver? I play through a Mesa Mark IIC so it can get plenty tight but I want the pickup to have a tight tone.

Not very tight, to be honest. I had it in two guitars. The sound of the HD is big and full. It doesn't bother me, because my amps cut the excess fat off nicely.

Yeah, the alnico HD sounds great, but its response time does have a bit of sag/lag. Thus the ceramic HD is such an amazing pickup. Clarity and precision with ceramic, and pure smoooooooth tone of the HD. Its sooo good I can barely put down the guitar. :D
