Nothing wrong with looking like Captain Pugwash!

Anyway, it's easy to tell 'em apart, Lukather is much fatter.

If I could play like him, I wouldn't give a toss what I looked like. Indeed, maybe it's some mystical tradeoff. In order to be able to play the world's most musical guitar parts with the most astonishing tone, he has to look like a mid 80s pimp?

Next you'll be telling me that Ben Doon and Phil McCavity aren't really a pair of Scottish dentists...

He's been posting in HRI a few times over the past weeks and I gained some insight into his life. It seems that he is famous enough to experience all the downsides - being stalked with a camera when he goes to the toilet or people filming him live just to get a bad note or bad sound so they can bash away.

But he's not loaded enough or something so he still has to play gigs he might not like so much. Also he toured Japan recently and had to play on rented Marshall TSL/DSL backline (he said he cared less nowadays and cost of moving a huge rig is  prohibitive.

Might be you love or hate his style of playing and appearance, but I think he does deserve respect for what he has achieved.
He has done some amazing work in his stage and studio life (which is probably longer than many of our total lives) and if he has a bad day now and then - which will surely be recorded, published and bashed about - he deserves it, too. There is enough brilliant playing in between.

Same goes for EVH, Kirk Hammet etc.. ... ... Ok maybe not Kirk

regardless of what he looks like, he played on this song and it f*uckin rules... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrFej_u-xa0

I saw him play with Paul Rodgers at Newcastle City Hall back in the 90s when Rogers was touring the Muddy Water Blues album and Luke was great.
