Hey there its me again.

Finally found something to calm down my powerful GAS.

Now lets face the problem. Im a metal guy, though I like the feel of the 498t, Im finding it a bit muddy and overwhelmed in my 5150 combo for evil sounds.

Im mainly playing in drop C, machine head, ksengage, parkway drive thingy.

Its not a bright axe but not dark, good mid push with a bit fatness in low mids.  I also don't know how bkps would interact through that amp and all this mahogany.

I have a bubinga explorer with a5 nbomb brige and works perfect since the darkness of the amp and the balanced voicing of the 'bomb helps to tame the highs.

So I dunno if I should go extreme with ceramics or stay to some A5 with good midrange push. I admit the holy diver is tempting me as far as an A5 warpig. I also know any BKP is dynamic and clear even with low output so the VHII or black dog could fit the bill aswell.

If I should describe one sound I want, it would be that fat midrange crunch you ear in KSEngage music, that dense midrange is a dream tone. I bet I pretty discribed a future HDiver bridge there ..so why asking ?

Its always a pain to choose a bkp, theyre so many and they all have gorgeous names and tones.  :(

Now bear with me here, but I think the Miracle Man may be an option for you.

Sometimes it's described as 'smooth' and 'bright', but it's a bit of a chameleon. In a dark guitar, it can sound dark (and has LOVELY low-mid range push to it). Yes, the highs can be fantastically smooth and really '80s hair metal', but roll off the gain a touch, and it can do punchy, crunchy growly tones quite ridiculously well in a not-too-bright guitar.

Couple it with your 5150, and you've got instant Machine Head tones nailed. Drop down the gain a touch, and you can cover KSE very convincingly too.

Others will undoubtedly suggest different pickups, and my best advice is always this: Ask Tim! (Front page of BKP website for contact details).

+1 on Miracle Man, for all the reasons Roo states, plus my experience of the HD in my LP Goldtop has made me very wary of recommending HD for LPs.

The "not a bright axe but not dark, good mid push with a bit fatness in low mids" description sounds reasonably close to my Goldtop.  I found HD just a bit too fat that it lost clarity & sounded (dare I say it) muddy.  CS was a huge improvement for that guitar, though I like my other LP with MMs better...

I disagree - Gold to match the rest of the hardware.  I don't like nickel - aged or otherwise - it looks grubby after a few days, even if I wipe it down every time I handle the guitar.
