Voltage question
« on: April 15, 2010, 04:49:02 PM »
Afternoon all. I've got a HP personal media drive that I want to hook up to my laptop. I've lost the power supply for the media drive - it requires 12v/2a. The power supply I have delivers 12v but 2.33 amps. I'm not really up on electrics so can someone tell me if this would cause a problem? I thought that it was the voltage that had to be right but wanted to check before I use it (I've already backed up the media drive on to disk).

Cheers!

Ian.
I think I hate being indecisive.

As long as the polarity is right I think it will be okay.  The power can supply up to 2.33A but the device will only draw what it requires.

what the man said

the power supply can deliver a maximum of 2.33 Amps the the drive will use a maximum of 2 Amps
