Why no love for the riff raff?
« on: November 30, 2005, 04:58:35 PM »
I see many clips of the mule, nailbomb, miracle man ect. but I rarely ever see any clips of the riff raff.  Personally there my favourite bkp pup but would love some clean and dirty clips of the neck and the bridge pickups.  Can anyone help me out?

I have an old style Riff Raff in the neck of my Gordon Smith Graduate60, and love it :)

I do have some clips of the BKs in that guitar from when I did a microphone comparison test at the studio. Let me know if you want any of the clips.

Yeah, like vacations to England, calls to drink beer, extraneous guitar setups, and hangin' out with the metal contingent of NYC!!

Strange, lord knows we promote them enough for the SG players. I'm still thinking about a home made 2HB hot rod tele with a set of Riff Raffs.

(my wish list is long  :? )

The Riff Raff is a very good pickup, we have sold many of them. But I dont think there are many users on the forum!

So, what's the most popular pickup, and the least popular, at the moment? If you don't mind me asking.

Our best selling humbuckers are the Mule, the Nailbomb, the Warpig and the Crawler. Pickups that are less popular here like the Holydiver and Emerald sell very well in Europe, so we don’t really have a lest popular model.

I have Riff Raffs in the 6 of my SG 6/12 double neck and love them...they're like a grittier Mule and sound fantastic in darker timbered guitars. The tone is bright and mildly aggressive whilst still being totally vintage in nature.
I view the Stormy Monday, Mule and Riff Raff as 3 different versions of the early PAF.......the Stormy and Mule handle the  two sweet spots in the original PAF wind with Alnico IV mags and the Riff Raff handles the transition @'60 to Alnico V and a more symmetrical wind(the Riff Raff still has a slight offset though, something I find hard to let go of!).

Wish I tried out a Riff Raff at Music Live. Sounds perfect for the neck of my guitar, I find the neck Mule to be really smooth and even muddy/dull sometimes compared to the bridge one which is really open and bright  :? I plan to do a complete rewire sometime though so I'll have to see what its like after that
