Aynsley Lister
« on: April 20, 2010, 11:55:02 PM »
Just got back from seeing Aynsley Lister play a cracking set at a small venue in Swansea.

If anyone's a fan of hard rocking blues, I'd recommened getting along to see him if he comes anywhere near you - he's a great singer, fantastic fluid guitar player with a great tone, backed up by a very talented band.

Definitely worth checking out if you like Davy Knowles stuff!

I saw him perform and teach in Bath last year and he was great.  He was practicing in the classroom while everyone was on their lunch break - for a full hour.   Interesting how obsessively committed these natural talents are....

I saw him last year supporting Buddy Whittington.  I thought he was good, but SERIOUSLY up himself

Could have just been having a bad day though!

Davy Knowles, on the other hand, constantly comes across a super nice guy  :D

I have also heard this about him - maybe he has had more than one bad day. I hope they were.

Matt Schofiled on the other hand is a very nice guy indeed. I've chatted to him a few tiems and he has been equally gracious, polite and not in the least superior when someone tells him he is great at playing guitar.
I think I hate being indecisive.

He didn't come across that way onstage, or when I had a quick word with him after the gig, but you've got to take people as you find them haven't you?

I missed Matt Schofield at the same venue on his last UK tour and I still regret it - I've met a few people who were there and no-one has a bad word to say about the gig or him. Definitely won't be missing him if he come back there (or anywhere nearby for that matter!)

I met Aynsley Lister at the same IGF event Matt Schofield was playing at and my impression was that he was a bit shy, which is often mistaken for aloofness.  He was very polite but obviously very focused on what he was doing whether playing or teaching.  So, I have a positive impression of him apart from the suspicion I have that he was wearing guyliner. That's just wrong, wrong, wrong.....

Hahaha, there was no hint of guyliner when I saw him - he must have been going through a goth/Richie Manic stage!

Well spotted - now I come to think of it he did have "4 real" carved into his forearm and disappeared off to live in Goa shortly after the tutorial.
