Matt Schofield is playing the 100 Club in London tomorrow night. Me and a mate are going down to check it out, any one else gonna be there?

Brilliant guitarist.

Sadly I can't make it. Would love to as he is very impressive indeed. I highly recommend attending his gigs. Have a grea time mate! Would love to see a review.
I think I hate being indecisive.

This was such an awesome gig. I'll post more about it in the morning, I'm knackered. But just thought I'd say that I've never seen a finer bunch of musicians play so well before.

I must get to see him one day. I have a couple of CDs and I love the little touches that are purely his. I probably unfairly say that he is Robben Ford on steroids but what I mean by that is the little jazzy notes he goes to.

Ok so, a review.

First off his gear, he just got endorsements from Matchless and Dr Z amps. A King Cobra and EZG (I think that's the model). Using two SVL Custom guitars, Strat and Tele shape. He used the Strat for the whole gig and his tone was to die for. Never heard a clearer tone before. He really knew how to use his tone for the full effect.

Support slot was some Pianist whos name I forget, he was pretty talented but I got bored of him after the 4th song. Just sounded a bit samey after a while.

On to Matt Schofield, he played songs from all his albums and they sounded better live than on CD. The band just locked in with each other instantly, never missed and beat or note.

The venue was packed and was lucky enough to see quite a hot looking woman (who told me she worked for Metal Hammer and Classic Rock magazine) dancing in front of me for most of the gig. Not a bad extra for the show.

Overall, you shouldn't of missed the show, it was amazing and I forgot how awesome London looks when traffic dies down at night,

Weren't they suppose to be filming that gig?

Saw him at the show in Manchester last night. They were all very proficient musicians and I really enjoyed the gig. He's a great player and a has a good voice. However I can't put my finger on it but my impression is that there is something missing. It lacked - for want of a better work - ooomph. It was a good night though, I'd go and see him again.

Wish I'd have gone to that, I've been meaning to go and check him out.

From the clips I've seen on youtube I think I'd like him and be interested from a guitar point of view although from an artist point of view he does seem to be missing something for me so far.  But I need to see him to form a proper opinion.

I went to see the John Butler Trio a few weeks ago, they were really good and had ooomph, there's nothing like a 12 string acoustic going through a Marshall half stack.

I haven't heard much of Matt Schofield but I'm surprised you say Robben Ford on steroids.  Schofield seems very good but rather "polite" to me, whereas Robben can actually rock out - when it suits him.

(I should say I've seen Robben Ford live, but not Matt Schofield)

Well Philly, thinking about it I must admit I based my views upon the recordings I have of both and Matt seemed to have more fire but I guess until I've seen both live then I oughtn't to judge.

I was there at Manchester too, and to be brutally honest he left me cold.  There were some flashes of real skill and brilliance, but for the most part I got bored.  Really bored  :(

I personally wouldn't go out of my way to see him again, but it was an OK night out.

Sorry
