Oh my god!!
That must be it!
I almost triggered a black hole! God Bless Parcelforce!

Geneva gone! Lake leman now covering large parts of the french speaking swiss region and going deep into France!
Whole chunks of the alps missing... jeee... !

And the headlines! Absolutely unknown Swiss bloody amateur guitarist triggers a blackhole! On the run!
I think a small controlled blackhole would be welcome in Switzerland though... we could throw our nuclear waste in it ... I guess...  8)

This is one of the funniest posts I've read in years

I really hope this gets sorted for you soon...

Does anyone else think that the following:

"Parcelforce said they didnt send it out because they knew it wouldnt get through customs"

... sounds like utter bull-sh1t from them (Parcelforce)??!

Mebbe it's not, but I'd be left thinking, if I was the supplier:

"so you just sat on your @rses and left it in the f@cking corner while my customer is phoning round half of Europe to see what the hell is going on... when, in fact, you should have a) given it a go because that's what I'm f@cking paying you for, or b) come straight back to me with a sorry-no-can-do, chocolate only for Switzerland, or what ever, so that I can phone my customer up and sort it out, instead of phoning you and waking you up from your restful f@cking tea-break.... But, instead, both he and I are left dangling around like a pair of spare knackers, racking up phone bills and blood pressure..."

(Sorry if anyone on here works for parcelforce or any other organisation in that genre... I have no trust/respect for any of them at all...)

WEll... better have a laugh when your at the shitety end of things... at least as long as there is hope...

I had a few mails with Paul and he came to that same conclusion about magnets and Swiss customs.

The last ones, just for the laugh....

by the way, i just checked with a parcel company over here called interparcel, they work as a broker for a few parcel companies and they say magnets are fine to ship to Switzerland, it looks like it will be booked with DHL through interparcel... just to keep you informed

Paul

my answer...

pfff...

I looked up that magnet thing myself a bit... and it’s utter bulls**t!! there’s thousands of HiFi racks WITH speakers in to Switzerland per day and I’ve got cabs and speakers shipped to me too and I looked up the Swiss customs and searched all possible combinations... nothing about problems with magnets! Just nothing!
I don’t know what this guy/girl smoked ore ate, but he/she was on drugs... and probably wearing aluminium foil as a hat... I guess he/she has been taken into custody by now and claims he/she was abducted...

So PLEASE!!!! make absolutely SURE!! it does not go with Parcelforce again!! I guess you know what I mean... and I’m very! serious about that...

Right, sorry Andy

You are of course absolutely right...
but I'm just way past over Parcelforce by now, lost my nerves on them already, would be the first thing to go in that blackhole if I can trigger it...
But I can assure you that my blood pressure reached new tops a few times the last weeks! And that I'd love to refresh some Aikido moves with their managing staff...

Yeah, I really hope it gets sorted soon.

I get really wound up over delivery stuff myself, I have had it go right, but overall my experiences have not been good. Nothing as bad as yours at the moment, but enough to get my wife going "calm down... it's not worth it"

Hi folks

Just wanted to let you know that the cab finally arrived!! Just signed for it...
It looks great and exactly as I wanted... I'm in the office right now, so no gear and no playing...  :D

I'll spare you all the details, but I can tell you that it was a real Odyssey, made it by road an Fedex in the end.

I'll be very carefull next time I'll order a cab, you can believe me!!

Cheers!!

I think we have the biggest magnet worldwide in Switzerland (CERN) well for the biggest parts at least, so I guess we can live with those small speakers crossing our borders...

That'll be why then. They probably get close and then get repelled.

Ha, ha!

It is absolutely normal that magnetic devices have extra restrictions when shipping them.
AFAIK most cabinets are however under the whatever-rating-they-use-to-measure-magnetivity, if shipped by normal surface shipping. I'm surprised the guy from Zilla cabs didn't know this if even I knew about it; it's also on the websites usually.

The problem is mostly that strong magnets can cause damage to other shipped goods, I understand. If you ever held a speaker next to a older TV, you can literally see the effect.

Hi Alex

I would not blame it on Zilla cabs, because they told him it would be no problem and their website list magnets with the usual limitation under class nine:

http://www.parcelforce.com/portal/pw/content2?catId=19300174&mediaId=19300178

Though I don't know how to measure that, I doubt that a 2x12 exceeds this limits…

And what pisses more, is the fact they did just let the parcel sit in the hub without ANY kind of usable feedback and the second time around they could have told him the reason it did not workout the first time and even worse, the second time around it felt into the volcano ash timeframe, were the parcels had to go by road anyway, they could at least have asked him about that option, but they just had the parcel sit in the hub again… without ANY feedback… and after it returned and Paul had some serious words with them, one manager pointed out the magnet issue, which I still believe is none and I also believe nobody measured that field-strength, because I doubt they can… I just think one person was over careful with that parcel…

With the next service, Interparcel, he spoke first and they assured him it would be no issue at all… but were not willing to give him that in written form… and their website states NO magnets at all in the prohibited items… not even depending on strength, which would limit their services quite a lot I think… so go figure and several musical outlets I asked stated that they deliver cabs all over europe without any troubles, with the bigger parcel services they use, so I guess it depends if you're a bigger customer and if the service goes from one end to the other without changing hands, like Parcelforce does, because that one does not exist outside of the UK and belongs to the EMS network… so that are quite some double standards that are used from the UK… because from the USA, there is no problem to have a cab shipped… going by UPS or Fedex… They have their own planes, so they apply their own standards…

Just wanted to take off the main blame from Paul… he had some cabs shipped out of UK before as he told me and never had such problems… maybe there has been an incident at some point and now people had stricter instructions, I don't know…

Anyway, the cab sounds great!!

Cheers
