Off to Oz in less than a week....
« on: December 02, 2005, 11:43:47 AM »
Im getting kinda excited now.  Im off to Australia on Thursday and am starting to get quite excited.  First of all Im going to San Fransisco to stay with my brother and his family for a week, then off to Sydney to get a job for a while and then travel around to Perth where I have some family, so Im gonna be out there until end of May.

Im an Oz citizan which makes things easier as it's a really beurocratic place.  I just hope I can get a decent job out there as Im £240 down already becasue a mate can't buy my EMG's now and another can't buy one of my guitars.

So If anyone knows of any cool jobs out in Oz then Id really like to know

cheers

good luck with it!!

I stayed in oz a few years back, in Brisbane and Adelaide. Adelaide reminded me of Wales with better weather, my auntie lived in the sticks and had a couple of horses...

Have fun, but remember, theres no metal tours in Oz :(

hey... just going off my cousin in oz. he couldnt believe the amount of metal we had in the UK around london (6hrs? away from me..) when he stayed with me a couple of years back.

Maybe it was just where he lived in Oz?

And they cancelled the ProgPower festival in Oz aswell didnt they...

Ok I just got back from The UK Today... It was my honeymoon.

Oz is a cool place to be. Just dont expect the same amount of things to do, ie theres all the same things to  do just less places to do them as far as the usuall bar, pub, nightclub, shopping sort od thing.

Sydney is good and will remind you a lot of home... Tourist oreinted, and expensive for what it is kind of stuff but none the less good. Oh yeah look up Jacksons Rare Guitars while here. Its just one shop but there's nothing in Denmark street/ Tinpan ally that comes close. If you dont just look like a homeless bum they leave you alone and you can just walk around, pickup a vintage guitar and just start strumming. Its  pretty cool.

Brisbane good but not much there you just missed "schoolies week" thats when it really goes off. Travel further up north to see the best of Queansland.

Melbourne this (unfortunatelly) is the most interesting state in Australia. Its definately the most "going off" place in Oz.

Perth, my home town. Fantastic cleanest most friendly place on Earth. Just dont expect anything exciting. Its small and theres not much in the way of youthful exciting things to do.

Of course all this depends on what you like and what you want to  do.

Fell free to e-mail me if you want. Perth is obviously my specialty but hey every body i met in the Uk was so helpful this is the least I  can do.

Except for customs...god that annoyed me. Anyway.

Enjoy San Fran's.  It's my second fave American city after Chicago.  SF's a fantastic friendly place.  MUCH more interesting than most American cities, eg Cincinnati, which work used to send me too.
Mother's Milk.  Mullard.  Cornford.  Mmmmm....

Well Ive been in Sydney for about a week now and am loving it.

One problem tho, Im getting kicked out of my hostel soon and nearly everywhere is booked up so me and my friend are stuck with places to stay... oh well looks like the street for us

Sydney is great, but it is quite expensive I have yet to find some good guitar shops as its too hot to go all the way to parramatta road today. (around 38 degs and really muggy and hot wind)
