I just sneaked home and had my lunch, big truck outside and i'm finishing my Logic 9 install

Gives you a nice chance to play with your Koch while you're waiting....

Time was scarce Andy so I had to concentrate on the job in hand. Besides I'm a mucky pup whilst at work, or with my grubby truck driving hat on, which means my hands are not in the best condition to handle my Koch.

These things are gorgeous, you will love it!

Just started installing Komplete 6. Another Mammoth amount of data.

I was supposed to be rehearsing tonight but surprise surprise the 'between jobs' contingent can't afford the studio fee. It's only £10 each for gawds sake. I knew last weeks sesh was too good to be true.
Oh well I may just be a one man band with this new toy.

Get one you'll love it, I had mine about 3 months now.

My only criticism with the Mac is that you get seduced into buying other mac products - so far my mini has cost me a 23" Apple Cinema Monitor and an iphone

Sounds good Johnny. Wish I could afford a decent specced iMac, they look so nice but still have a hard time justifying the price.

ooh dear.. those monitors are such a ripoff! They do look very pretty though.

Nearly finished the last of my installs on Sat night. I had to validate all the native instruments stuff to unlock it. But it seems to be ok. I get a sound from the piano roll and the mouse pointer. I haven't got the Motu interface done yet as I had to buy a FireWire 400 to 800 cable and it only shipped with the 400.
I've had a mess about with the loops that logic 9 has and it's a piece of piss to knock something up in it. I heard it 9 got all the loops to compete with Reason. Anyway it's scary how easy that drag and drop sh!t is.

You're right Tom, they're not cheap. I was looking at getting a G5 quad core until I saw the price of their moniters. I didn't realise iMac's are so powerful until I went through the Apple site a few weeks back. It's so quiet too. The screen resolution is jaw dropping! Get one Tom! All you need is a job and lots of saving, don't do it the way I did

This thread is giving me MAS! Only got about £600 in the bank though, not even enough for a macbook!

I have to say the mac mini is very tempting but dunno how well it'd handle recording if at all?

My calculations of the Mac Mini and the eventual purchasing of everything else that I'll need, i.e. monitor, etc. cost up to the same as the iMac. But I guess you have a monitor, keyboard, etc. already.

And no Johnny, I didn't get Logic. I got Aperture though and will probably get more when the time comes. I probably couldn't afford Logic anyways :P

Yeah I already have everything, I'd basically be swapping my oversized/inefficient tower for the mac mini box. Would have to get an apple keyboard though just because! Maybe swap the monitor for a white or silver one as well..

Currently installing OSX on my pc, looks like it might actually work this time. I don't feel so guilty as the disc is a fully legal Snow Leopard one rather than torrented hackintosh :P

I'd say bide your time and keep saving for something that will slay! You will make so much use out of it Tom, with your 3D rendering and photoshop. I'm going to get photoshop on this one too soon. I've got one more thing to add and thats in a courier depot now.

Anyone know why I can't get the Wi-Fi to work on this iMac? A bit of a vague question there I know but you've gotta start somewhere!

It'll handle it fine :) I've seen an old MacBook (the white ones), record 12 tracks (full drums, guitar and vocals) at once with a Digidesign 002 and an OctoPre, and there was no indication of things going south at all-- very reliable.... i'm sure a Mac Mini would cope fine with those, they can certainly handle 2 track recording, as we've been using them for tape-transfers here at work :)

Edit: Johnny Mac, do you mean that it won't connect to your Wi-Fi network, or you can't get anything happening with the Airport at all on the machine?
