I've not really big on funk, but I do like music which has a groove to it.
That's the appeal of funk, the groove. For me, to play this kind of music effectively, you have to kind of feel the groove as you play it or it won't sound right. Just look how relaxed and confident all the musicians and vocalists are in that bootsy clip!
Funk was on the radio a lot in the 1970's, when we were kids! (for us 40 somethings)
I've got some brilliant funk on my iPod right now. I can burn you some discs if you want. Have a listen to early Kool & The Gang. Not the 'get down on it' or 'Joanna' era cos that was terrible (they did it for the cash!). It's pre cheesy vocalist bloke (who wasn't Kool but everyone thought he was). The level of muscianship is amazing.
