some folk like their nickel tarnished,i don't.
any tips on how to clean the bridge and tailpiece up on my les paul?

Metal polish or T-Cut sort-of work, but they're abrasive so ultimately they're rubbing away some of the plating every time you polish. Nickel is pretty determined to tarnish, really.
