Fender Bass VI.

Instead of more low strings, the additional 2 are higher pitched (I think).

Thanks - I heard of the Bass VI before, but apparently never saw a picture until now!

We had a thread about these last week!

http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=21073.0  - CAUTION: Phil X content

I'm adding the Bass VI to my list of things Fender need to reissue, along with proper Wide Range humbuckers and Squier 51's.

Also, I love how the guy is casually posing with his basses in front of a cannon, definitely impresses the ladies.

There was the Jaguar Baritone Custom - that was essentially a bass VI with 2 pickups

'Also, I love how the guy is casually posing with his basses in front of a cannon, definitely impresses the ladies.'

In the days before guitars were solely advertised by some hair metal pussy or a wanna-be hells angel, the point was made in a much more subtle way  :D

One chick obviously knows what's coming because she's holding tightly onto to the railings.  Perhaps the fey blonde in the floral mini dress knows too as she looks a tiny bit worried!

I think they reissued them a couple of years back, as a limited edition Custom shop model. It would be nice for another production reissue though! And of course theres the Jaguar Baritone Custom as well (which seem to be like hens teeth at the moment).

I think Jack Bruce played one in Manfred Mann and early Cream days too. And Peter Green used one for when they played Green Manalishi live too.

Great pic. The Fender bass V1 also used by the Beatles so Roo won't like it.

I wonder why there are 2 Jazz basses.
So many pickups, so little time
