More NDM moddage (for that is the reason for it's existence). Out have come the BKPs and in have gone some SD P-Rails and a Fender single that was the bridge pup from my Classic 50's Strat.

Wiring is a bit mental. Individual switching on all pups, push pulls on vol and tone. Both down the P-Rails are standard humbuckers in parallel. Pull the tone and it's just the P90's, pull the vol and it's the rails, pull them both and it's humbuckers again in serial.

There's a quite unfeasable amount of tones available from this thing now. Most of them very good indeed. Really quite unique pups with a distinctive sound. Not quite single coil, not quite P-90 and not quite humbucker. But an approximation of all three. I really quite like them.

What did you stain it with? Not bad looking for a piece of basswood.

What body is that? And that seems like one versatile guitar.

It's my main experimental guitar. It was a Ibanez NDM-1 that looked like this (well it had open coils across the board originally but they went instantly)

Then I went a bit bonkers with the switching and it ended up like this (new pups again...)

After quite a bit of abuse it was starting to look scr@ppy so I bit the bullet and pulled the tape off with a view to filling the holes and painting it. Given that it's a piece of firewood, it actually looked pretty good.

So it got some Danish oil and some coats of wax

From there it went reasonably sensible for a while and was loaded with BKPs

Recently I just fancied a change so have stuck the P-Rails in (they intreagued me) and that's where it currently stands.

I have a further NDM1 that didn't sell recently so that's been de-pupped also, this is going to be even madder. Less switching options (just a 5 way super switch), but as bonkers a pickup combination as I can think of... I've got no plans to tear the tape off this one.

I think that guitar looks great au naturel and the switching options are really impressive.  I expect I'd go mad trying them all out.  I'm too simple a soul to cope with all that.  Very cool though.

I know exactly what you mean. I did the jimmy page wiring to my last Edwards LP. It was just an almighty pain in the arse to remember what everything did. This, is actually easier as the push/pulls operate both bridge and neck pups at the same time and it's kinda logical what they do.

Having played this mongrel in all its forms,  I can confirm this switching method works and is usable.  The JP wiring isn't usable, too much thinking required to do the switching.

The next mongrel is a bit different, or will be.

Juan also got the serial/parallel bit wrong in first post, its the other way round ;)

Dunno what to call this. The WUTcaster? WTFcaster? Twangyjanglecaster? Oddcaster?

This was one of those that was either going to sound absolute arse or pretty awesome. It's pretty awesome surprisingly (those who I've bought cheap pups of recently, this is where they ended up). Bizzare? Certainly.
