I bought a USA Standard Tele a few months ago, really love it.
Anyway, I'm finding the output far too quiet, I really like the sound of the guiar, but it's just too quiet, especially compared to my Ibanez RG.

I've been recommended Bare Knuckle by a friend, but I want to know what pickups would work best for high output, similar to a humbucker, but still keeps my tone more or less as it is now....

Piledriver? I dont know much about the pickups other than humbuckers but that one has a heavy sounding name :lol:

If it's really high output you want (for metal), Tim can also do an uberwind on the Piledrivers. They would be practically the same as a Sinner.

No, I don't play metal. Need something that sounds good clean, but able to stand up to a humbucker when it comes to output, but sound like a single coil.

My bro uses the Piledriver in the bridge of his Teles and they are really nice. More of a humbucker type sound though. Neck wise, he has yarbirds. These are possibly the most beautiful sounding tele neck pups i have ever heard. Nice and thick, clean and crisp. A nice open sound with clear articulation.

Im making him a tele at the mo and thats gonna have a boss neck pup, i'll let u know if i get it done any time soon.

Hi I just received a brown sugar bridge pickup. Its now fitted and sounds stunning so much better than the stock mexican one. I also realised how cr@p the build was on my guitar the pick guard was loose cos some of the screws holes wern't even threaded! Also the pickups wereloose too. :roll: My guess would be the piledriver have a look at the products page and see the specs.

+1 for the yardbirds in the neck!!!!! Beautiful clean sound! doesn´t shrink away if you get gritty.
I have a boss in the bridge and they balance out perfeclty, bridge being a bit more powerful. The boss is really cutting and has awesome bite, very nice for crunchy rythm or scorching leads. ohhhh, and the mid position.... TO DIE FOR!

I've found The Boss to have enough chunk when you need it, plenty of output, but still be really clean when you want to be too. Although I've often considered trying out a piledriver set just to see how they compare, winding up a telecaster really is like nothing else sonicly, there's just that "something" to it. 8)

Yeah - agree with you there Phil. Always thought of myself as a Gibson person (LP and SGs) but got a Tele a couple of years ago. They're built like tanks (I'm afraid to breath on my SG in case the neck breaks), very simple controls and can cover a wide range of music. I've just ordered a Boss set from Tim today.

I'll definately have to get the Yardbird neck pickup then. Still not too sure about what I need for the bridge though.

And yeah, I love my Tele, first guitar I've owned where I've found myself using all the controls and getting loads more sounds than I have done from guitars with more features, knobs and switches...it's amazing how simple designs are so much more versitile.

I will be interested in what you decide and what you think thereafter. I have more or less made up my mind about Country Boys for my Tele. I am having bail out my badly in debt son but hopefully I will get it done soon.

I would go easy on the high-output Tele bridge pickup - I think you always loose the trademark Tele 'bite' if you go too far. I'll get one of Tims Tele pickups one day when cash is not an issue for for now I'm very happy with the fender nocaster cs pickup I have in there.

The Piledriver is my take on the original Braodcaster...........these early pickups were essentially taken off lap steel guitars so were quite hot.Having said that they still have some twang in them, nothing like a lower output pickup but they've got some serious meat to them.Another option is The Boss which is solid and chunky but still has great bite too.
