I believe Bogner's are pretty reliable, but we'll see when I get it eh?!

Yes they are supposed to be reliable, but Dave... if it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck!

Nice amp Dave. With all those channels, I would have thought you would get a decent vintage tone if you spend some time dialing one in. Start with all the EQ at 12 0' Clock and don't use too much treble and presence. An attenuator may help achive that goal with some power valve cookage. Speaker damping if it has it, can take the tightness out of the sound when it's cranked up too. I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts on it after you have got more familiar with it. It looks  the business!  :D

Dave, sound wise those 101B's are supposed to be awesome!!!! From lush cleans through Plexi , hotrad and beyond.... a tweakers dream. That one amp could replace many.... you're going to haveloads of fun me thinks. When do you get it? What cab/ speaker combo you going to be using?

Cheers Johnny.  There are loads of power reduction switches so an attenuator won't be required, plus I hate those things!   I'll spend some time at home working out what everything does and getting a base setup.

didsj - The guy who owns it is away this weekend, so he's getting in touch over the next couple of days to arrange a meet.

I'll be running it through my chunky MJW 2x12 with Celestion Golds  :D

That's going to sound great! One thing though Dave.... hope you're in good shape, they are both big and heavy
I really like them but I'm paranoid about overly complicated amps.... simple minds eh?

Well, I'm used to fairly simple amps too and that's what I've been using up to now.

Something about the XTC that makes me want to try it though, and you can't do that with a quick test in a shop.  I wouldn't buy a new one at the price they are, but used they are a reasonable deal and I can always sell it on for little or no loss if I don't like it.

You're right Dave, buying a used one you shouldn't lose anything at all.... maybe make a little? Can't wait to hear what you think considering the amps you already have! I nearly swapped my Cornford MK50II a while back for one but I realised there was something not quite right with my amp and had to get it sorted before I moved it on, I didn't like the idea of knowingly trading something that wasn't 100%.

haha, it just sounded like you were taking the claim that it was reliable as a challenge.

"reliable, eh?"

*lifts sledgehammer*

Regarding those vintage tones johnny was talking about, does yours have the plexi mode? the one i tried did, and that mode was great for vintage tones.

There's a vid somewhere on youtube of a Bogner being dropped from 5 foot on to a concrete floor without any problems. I don't think reliability is an issue with Bogners :p
