I really like mine a lot and it's one of the pedals I use most, it's certainly my favourite Univibe pedal.  The construction is rock solid and whilst the controls are minimal I find I get everything I want from it.  For me, as I don't tend to change the speed of the effect on the fly, the version with the pedal is not worth the extra expense.  For sound examples listen to any recent Robin Trower record as he uses one a lot.

No battery, you have to use wall power.  It is 9v but it draws a lot of current I believe hence a 9v battery not really cutting it.

I've got one of the older, mains powered Deja Vibes and I really like it, although it only gets used occasionally at home.

Incidenatlly. the power supply in the Deja Vibe actually steps the voltage up to 18 VDC, like the original.

Ok,i 've got it :D! Now,i know why they call it the "Mini Deja-Vibe"... :) It's surprisingly small & compact! It's a really beautiful pedal! There was no power supply,so,i used a regular 9VBoss PSA transformer.I only tried it 10-15 min. at low volume but i'm already very pleased by the sound !I used it in front of the amp but, when i set the MDV's volume too high ,i can hear radio interferences...very vintage  :( I will try in the loop tomorrow and see how it goes...
