After hearing the el cheapo GFS Surf 90 in Juansolo's mongrelcaster, I decided to buy a pair for my Xtone.
If i don't like them £60 isn't going to break the bank.

They are a humbucker sized De Armond Dynasonic-alike (ish).  Having not heard any Dynasonics in the flesh I can only compare the sound to other pickups.  To me the neck pickup is like a P90 with less mids, and more highs, not harsh though.  The bridge is between a tele bridge pickup and a P90, really nice with medium to high gain.

The SD Alnico II Pros which were stock aren't going back in it!

It's a shame they dont do them in gold to match, but Gretsch have used chrome Dynasonics and gold hardware before, so I'm not too bothered.

They're pretty cool pickups. There's alot of P90 in there mixed with a bit of Dynasonic. The poles aren't adjustable, the screws are cosmetic but it wouldn't look right without them.

The screws are height adjustable and do affect the magnetic field, but they dont raise and lower the poles.  The originals look like under a cam cover of a pushrod engine on the underside.  Far too complicated a mechanism for changing pole heights.

Wow, that's a guitar that has no clue what it wants to be!
No BKPs? :)
