My band is dead
« on: June 02, 2010, 02:46:55 PM »
My band played its last ever show on May 29th at The Underworld in Camden.
All tickets went within 20hrs of going on sale a few months back and the venue ended up being over capacity.
Both my band and the record label we where on came to an end.

It was the craziest show some people had ever seen at The Underworld, with people diving from the rails at the back of the room by the sound desk and steps down to the dance floor (so i was told! i couldn't see that far back). I witnessed a painful looking failed backflip attempt off the bass drum during our set.

Sick band, I bet that show was nuts. It is a shame you a splitting up. You're very lucky to experience and be part of something like that.

Did you get my PM btw?

I was sorry to hear you guys were splitting up. Sounds like the last gig was a blast though - if you're going to go out, do it in style!

Cheers for the pics and vid, very entertaining :)

That was an awesome video. The audience obviously felt something special.

That's pretty amazing. You should be quite proud that you could make music that people care so much about.
I know it must be quite a come down now that the band has finished but I'm sure you've learned a lot from this experience and I hope you can use this to get more success in the future :)

It's a shame it came to an end. Are there any other bands in the pipeline? Your tour storys were entertaining. Those pics are great. I'd love to shoot a gig like that.

I'll team up with you if my band of numptys don't get their act together!

I'm meant to be doing some small project with some guys in other london bands. I'm also meant to be playing bass for our bassists other band in which he does vocals. That's called Cold Snap and it's based in Brighton.

I want to try and do something a little different though also. I'm keeping my eye out for something interesting but so far no luck.

You could come up to Oxford on a Tuesday night and see how you fit in with 13G. We're not looking for another guitarist, but I'm always up for trying new things out :)

Yeah I had a listen to that earlier. Much more like it! I generally don't run with high compression myself, but I was wondering if that might sound even more brutal with a touch more on it...

Sorry for going off the subject but could not resist.

Rooobubba does the quote imply that you may try a tele at some point too?

but I'm always up for trying new things out :)

Opps I ment to say I hope you get another project sorted. By all acounts if the last gig went so well it will be a real shame if all the performing came to an end.

Compression has so many uses. I used a small amount to control my imput signal when recording with the soundcards on board effects. A wave form from a pickup like that coming out the end of my Koch can be hard to control without it.  I only had the gain up halfway so a bit more on there could give it more brutals which would compress more anyway. I can try taking the BBE out of the loop too which would give if a darker sound.
