I've really been looking forward to the World Cup, though I'm not a massive footy fan per se.

As it happens, I'm gigging on the first AND second England games which, knowing England, may well leave me with only one other match to watch them in.

Might also leave you with a depleted audience?

I've booked off 2 weeks from work so I can watch every game.

I'm English and and England fan but rather than get too upset about what happens to England I just want to soak up lots of great football from countries around the world, great atmosphere and beer :D
I've even upgraded my TV from an old 21" CRT to a new fangled LCD TV just for the viewing experience!

Fernando,

Brazil always look dodgy before a world cup, you trick us into thinking you're not very good then cruise to the final.  Not always a bad thing though as there's always a few good shots of nice Brazillian ladies dancing samba style in the crowd :D

I am not a fan of the beautiful game that much but a lot of the lads at work are getting very excited and I must admit that they are quite endearing in their enthusiasm- not just for England but they talk of other teams in respectful terms. For what it is worth, I have always supported whichever British team is in it. I remember years ago passionately supporting Scotland as one of my best friends is Scottish and his enthusiasm was infectious. If it raises morale then that is good in my view. As long as the best team wins and there are no "hand of God" moments then it'll be good-though I doubt whether I will be watching. many of the games-I shall be out of the country for 2 weeks soon in any event.

bit late for that, ireland already got put out by a hand of god moment

You miserable bunch!

No, I don't give a cr@p about footie either, but the World Cup is fun, and the plight of England is always a fascinating journey.

I shall be watching, and shall be enjoying it!

Mark.

well said!

Believe me, mate, the only midfielder is Kaka... the others are all defensive midfielders and BAD ONES!!!! BUT, Dunga can put Michel Bastos on midfield, he is using his as linebacker and he is MF on Lyon.... He can also use Daniel Alves, linebacker on Barcelona as MF as he's MUCH better than the others guys... THEN we can play decently... If you take that *I* don't think Luis Fabiano, Nilmar, Grafite are good enough for the history of the yellow team, Roubinho* can play good enough, IF someone put limits on this freak

(*means "little robbery" - I made this think with his name - Robinho - I believe he got deals with drug dealers and etc... you can see in his eyes that he's not a decent person)

Beside is very nice to see a team that dedicated to the tatical disposal propose by the coach, I found it very weird to decide to NOT play and NOT let others play... But, it works sometimes...
Say thanks to Mr Green and I hope USA doesn't pass to the second part of the Cup... I really want to see people PLAYING...

Seems like Beckham was needed more than I thought... But I believe it was more merit of USA than England's fault... USA shall be commemorating for this draw...

^ ^ england's no great shakes either. just because they keep saying how good they are doesn't make it true. certainly in the first half the US was all over england.
