Well, they could probably do with a big target man at the front, and he doesn't seem to want to pick Crouch - go for it, gwEm, put your name forward!  :)

Yes it makes for a more exciting, competitive match than Ghana. Plus games against The Hun make for a great atmosphere in the pub.

or at a BBQ with your friends.

I'm really looking forward to it and am certain we can beat them. The arrogance that we had going in to the tournament seems to have dissipated and as a result we look more cohesive and more of a team.

As far as team talks go Capello only needs to put up a picture of Beckenbauer with some of his recent quotes. That should be enough to get them in the right frame of mind.
I think I hate being indecisive.

Beckenbauer did said the truth (at least the things I've read), but it's not "nice" everytime to hear the truth, specially when someone say you suck and you're sucking at the moment

well, some of what he said was bullsh!t though - but some of it was true too.

his comments really stir up the england/germany football rivalry. i don't see the head of the english FA talking sh!t about the german side. german manager joachim loew is much more low key.

beckenbauer can say what he likes - his words just make england more likely to win.

i love germany, but i hope england will win in style against them. the germany/england football clash is deep in our culture - it means so much. i remember the 1990 world cup well, we all know the story of 1966. actually, its something which defines us as a nation - or at least those of us who like football.

what is sure is it will be an explosive game - it should be great for someone impartial like you to watch. i will be watching it down the pub and shouting as loud as i can.

i think you have something similar with argentina?

edit: fernando, you probably know all that anyway - but my passion is high for this game!! (normally i like the german side abit, but this is something very different)

The only thing I remember Beckenbauer saying was that England wasn't playing good and playing that way there were a chance of going on this group phase... But I may be spoke BS because I'm sure here in Brazil they didn't showed all the things, etc... We know it's a great rivalry, but it's not something that goes a lot on tv, as I think Brazil vs Argentina rivalry isn't showed to you guys... Here is something VERY big...

Sorry if I've said BS, wasn't my intention...

His most offensive comment accused us of playing "kick and rush football".

Well, not sure what is the power of these words he chose, but it wasn't far from the truth, don't you agree??? England did not played very good on the first two matches and did abuse the kick forward in some times...  As I said, I'm not very good in english language, so don't know if it was said with bad words, but he did not lie...

I haven't heard him yet but i heard it's just the usual mind games BS. England are lucky to have got to the next round. They played badly in the first two games. They did a of better against Slovinia, especially in defence. John Terry had a great game.

In deed, when he was on ground and then jumped with his head to try avoid the ball going to the goal was an "hey I AM IN a World Cup" moment...

Sorry if I offended you also Fernando, I'm am simply very excited for the game.

Its true there was a bit of 'kick and rush' football in our first two games - but if Beckenbauer had seen our qualifying games he would have know that this isn't the new styles of our side.

Heres how it was reported in the UK:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2010/8740637.stm
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2010/8757944.stm

Germany have also had their problems so far. It will be a great game I think - no side is a clear winner in advance, and we will both step up to it.

Maybe the comments are mind games, but I think they will have the reverse effect on us - they certainly do on me anyway :) its alot of motivation for the game, and to play well.

What a great World Cup its been so far - good luck to Brazil also Fernando! I saw some of your games, and you played with your usual skill and style ;)

(the English team has no great love of the Argentina side either, considering Maradonna's "Hand Of God" goal, and many other incidents)
