I thought the world cup has been cr@p to be honest. It's got nothing on Italia 90  :D

Any sounds that come from managers pre match are games I reckon. Designed to wind up or put you in a false sense of security. Ferguson is a master at this, especially when it's aimed at Wenger.

Dude, you can put all kinds of tape on your axe, it's not gonna help you guys on Sunday.

I remember only some parts of Italia 90 - I was only 11 ;)

Actually I'm really into all World Cups. which is funny, since I'm not so into sport at other times, except the European championships a little.

You are right that some of the teams have seen a disciplined, defensive style of play works to pull off a decent tournament result for less good teams and alot have played this way. This is in worst case boring to watch, an in best case leads to a tense game.

My favourite World Cup so far was Germany 2006, I went out there for a bit to pick up some of the vibes. I had a Germany missus at the time and it was a very memorable experience for me drinking beer and looking at some of the big screen showings of games. I would totally go again if they'd have it Europe.

What Johnny Mac said, this ia a very ugly World Cup... I don't think Brazil is playing as it is supposed to play... Had enormous difficulty to win of North Korea :? and only took the leading of the game agains Ivory Coast after the stoled goal of Luís Fabiano... We were supposed to be ashamed, as we're talking bad thinks about Maradona and Henry for a long time... But here he's a new god...

I stopped cheering Brazil in 1998, because of the lack of will, in 2006 I tried to cheer again, even bought a jersey and what happened? They played like it was married vs single match after a BBQ... So, believe me, I'm NOT cheering for Brazil...

Just one more think gWen: qualifying is qualifying, World Cup is World Cup :)
I think will be a great game and I hope I can watch it!

The England V Germany semi final in 1990 was one of the most tense games of football I've ever seen. Both sides played fantastically. The other one that springs to mind was the same teams in Euro 96. Both ended in a failed penalty shoot out. The 90 minutes in each were relentless end to end and it was great. In 96 there was the golden goal in extra time and Gasgoine missed a sitter which would have put us in the final.

I thought supporting Wales was hard work. At least we know we're shitee!

True.  But it's easy to deal with, knowing we never have more than 1/3 of a decent team at any one time.

England, on the other hand, are always great on paper but rubbish in practice.
