Are Bigsby's cool?
« on: June 10, 2010, 05:15:05 PM »
I always used to hate them, but looking at ES355's I can feel a slight softening of my aversion to them.  Compare and contrast the pictures below - which do you prefer?

In the case of that 355, I prefer it without the Bigsby.

But Bigsbys are cool.  They certainly look cool.

I agree with Philly.

Somehow they don't look quite right on an ES-355.

Bigsbies are definately cool. They're the best sounding too.

I think they're cool...

I mean compare the two pics you've posted - which one's in focus? Yep... the one with the Bigsby

I'm not sure about on a 335 though. I don't find it that offensive. I considered doing it to my Explorer - but eventually I felt the "roundness" of the Bigsby doesn't quite go with the angularity of the Explorer...

My other options are an SG - probably not - and, I've just realised, a black Tokai Love Rock, ooo, that would quite, er, cool...

Stringing the Bigsby pisses me off more than a floyd.  Not hard, just frustrating.

They do look cool, but I dont really use it.

I'm definitely in the LOVE Bigsby camp, they improve the look of pretty much any guitar imo.

I'd have one on both my Les Paul and Tele, but they're such perfect guitars in terms of tone and tuning stability that I don't want to f*uck with them.

Plus, I don't have any use for a trem playing rock covers.  The day I start playing rockabilly, I'll get a Bigsby.

Pre bend the strings at the ball end. Keep some tension on the string while wrapping them on the tuners. it's quite easy once you get the hang of it.

Alternatively, you can take out the pins and drill holes through the bar. Then it becomes as easy as a wraparound.
