This came up a couple of weeks ago on another forum I frequent.

He's great!

He's a really good drummer and the 'show' he puts on is great but I wonder how many folks would still be paying attention to him at the end of a 20 song set? I think 'showboating' works better now-and-again rather than all-the-time. Also anyone who's been in a band knows what happens when you constantly pull focus and upstage the singer

I'd love to see if he can keep up the pace to do that for a 20 song set . Still he's pretty awesome, makes the rest of the band seem a little tame though.

I wonder what the significance of the toilet seat at the side of the stage is

Am I missing something?  To me this is a good but not outstanding drummer making lots of twirly stick movements.

Now, these chaps were pretty special....

It's entertaining, but I don't really understand why he's doing it!  As Ken said, I think the novelty value would wear off pretty quickly.

And it must be absolutely exhausting.

Someone on the vid commented that after playing the set for the 200th time he's probably just trying to keep himself entertained, hehe. Ah well, I enjoyed it. He was actually spot-on with his timing too, which is pretty good considering all the stuff he's doing with his hands. Obviously a drummer first, an exhibitionist second, heh.

I bet 25 years ago he was playing in a glam band.  Old habits die hard.  ;)
